Open House

Capture: the questions we get asked

Short answers, no sales pitch. If yours is not here, ring and ask.

The basics

What does it actually do?

During the valuation walk round your agent takes four photos on their phone. Address, postcode, guide price, beds and baths. While the kettle boils they tap Publish, a QR code comes up on screen, and the vendor scans it with their own phone. Their own house opens in front of them.

About three minutes, at the property, in the meeting.

What is it actually for?

The half hour in the vendor's living room.

Three agents pitch the same instruction in the same week. All three promise professional photography, a floorplan, Rightmove and Zoopla, accompanied viewings. The vendor cannot tell you apart, so the decision collapses onto the valuation figure and the fee percentage.

This puts something in that room the other two do not have. Not a portfolio of somebody else's kitchen. Their house, on their phone, while you are still sitting there. It is the only thing in the whole meeting they actually touched, and people remember what they touched.

Does it replace my CRM, or Rightmove?

No, and it does not try to. You cannot leave Rightmove and we are not going to pretend otherwise. This is additive. It sits earlier in the process, before the instruction is even won.

Published pages are marked as draft images with professional photography to follow, and they are blocked from search engines, so nothing here competes with your portal listings.

What about after the instruction is won?

It carries on being useful. The page stays live through the gap between winning the instruction and the professional photographs coming back, so there is something to hand an early viewer or put behind a QR code in the window.

That is a bonus, though. The reason to buy it is the meeting.

Cost and terms

What does it cost?
Subscription, per branch£95 per month
Invoiced annually£1,140 per year
Branding setup, one-off per agency£250
Trial14 days, free

Unlimited properties, unlimited staff in the branch, hosting and support all included. No per-property charge, ever. Anything that makes an agent hesitate before publishing defeats the point.

How does that compare with what we already spend?

The average Rightmove branch spends in the region of £1,621 a month. This is £95. It is roughly six per cent of a bill you already pay and cannot cancel.

Put it the other way round. On a £500,000 house, the gap between holding your fee at 1.5% and being negotiated down to 1.0% is £2,500. Hold your fee on one instruction and it has paid for two years.

Can we try it before we pay?

Yes. Fourteen days, free, on your own branch with your own name and logo on it, used on real instructions. No card details and nothing to cancel. If you do nothing at the end of it, it simply stops.

There is also an open demo you can try this minute without speaking to anyone. The link is at the bottom of this page.

What if we want to stop?

Tell us before the renewal date and it does not renew. Pages already published stay live until they expire normally. You can ask for everything to be deleted at any point and we will confirm when it is done.

Branding

Will it have our name on it, or yours?

Yours. There is no Open House logo anywhere a vendor can see it. Your agency name appears on the app your staff use and on every page a vendor opens.

Handing a vendor something branded by your software supplier would rather defeat the object.

What does the £250 setup cover?

Your agency name, your logo and your colours applied to the capture app and to the published property pages, so what the vendor sees looks like it came from you. We set it up from your website and send it back for you to check before anything goes live.

One-off, per agency, not per branch. If you add a second branch later it inherits the same branding at no extra cost.

Can we use our own web address?

Not at the moment. Pages are served from openhouse.dtttech.com with a long random address. If having your own domain matters to you, say so, because it changes what we build next.

Getting your staff on it

Is there an app to install?

No. It runs in the phone's browser. Nothing from an app store, nothing for your IT to approve, nothing to update.

How does a member of staff get set up?

We send your branch one activation link. Each person opens it once on their phone and that phone is then set up for six months. They add it to the home screen and it opens like any other app.

No username and no password. Nobody is going to be locked out standing in somebody's hallway because they cannot remember a password.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, on any reasonably current handset. It is an ordinary web page, so it does not care which phone your staff happen to have.

What if the signal is poor inside the property?

Photos are shrunk on the phone before anything is uploaded. In testing, five photos totalling 15.5MB went up as 1.4MB, a reduction of about 91 per cent, with no visible difference on a phone screen.

That is the whole reason it works from a hallway on one bar.

How much training do staff need?

None. It is four fields and a photo picker. If someone can use their camera roll they can use this.

Data and privacy

Where is our data kept, and can other agents see it?

Each branch has its own separate storage. There is no shared pool, and one branch cannot reach another branch's properties even by accident. It is enforced on our servers, not in the phone, so it cannot be worked around from a browser.

Can you see our properties?

Honestly: yes, we can, in the same way any hosted software provider can. We access your content only at your request or to investigate a fault you have reported, every access is logged, and that commitment is written into the agreement rather than just promised here.

What about the vendor's privacy? We photograph homes before we have the instruction.

That is designed for rather than left to judgement. Every page carries an expiry date and stops working after it, by default 30 days. Pages are blocked from Google and other search engines at the server level. Web addresses are long and random, so a page cannot be found by guessing or by counting up from another one.

Are you GDPR compliant?

We act as your data processor and provide a data processing agreement covering what we hold, how long we hold it, and how it is deleted. Ask for a copy and we will send it before you commit to anything.

How long do published pages stay up?

Thirty days by default, then the page stops working. We can set a different period for your branch if that does not suit how you work.

Support and continuity

Who do we call if something breaks?

Digital Technology Training directly. There is no ticket queue and no first line to get past. Response by the next working day, usually a good deal sooner.

You are a small supplier. What if something happens to you?

A fair question and it deserves a straight answer rather than a brochure one.

A named second developer holds a copy of the software and has a standing agreement to step in. Your data can be exported at any time on request. If the service is unavailable for more than a week you get a pro-rata refund. That is in the agreement, not just on this page.

Do you keep backups?

Your property records and photos are copied off-site so that a failure on our side does not lose your content.

Try it now, no sign-up

The demo is open. Put in a real address, add a few photos from your camera roll, and see what your vendor would see. Anything you publish there is public and disappears after seven days, so use a property you do not mind showing.
